Cycling in Transylvania

Do you love to cycle? This is a very good opportunity to visit Transylvania and to find out about its people culture and customs.
The main activity in the region was agriculture and old farmers still uses horses and carts to work the land. You will discover an old world that is still alive in this area.
Routes are 40 miles a day in average with plenty of time to rest and take photos as well as stops to visit a few of the old fortresses, citadels or fortified churches that were built to give shelter to a hole village in case of a siege. A stop will be as well to Bran Castle, well known as Dracula's Castle.

Programme:

1st day:
Arrival at Otopeni Airport, Bucharest. Transfer to guesthouse in Buzau area.
Everyday accommodation will be at guesthouses run by locals, serving traditional Romanian food, with vegetarian option.

2nd to 7th day - cycling days:
Note: The itinerary for any particular day is subject to minor changes upon weather conditions based on group decision.
Each day there will be a certain route to be cycled, and some stops on the way to admire the nature and the people with their customs. In case that one is unable to continue, there will be the assistance car that can fix the bicycle or to give a lift to the person.
Starting towards Intorsura Buzaului the route goes along Buzau valley and we cross Carpathian Mountains at Siriu Pass in Transylvania. There is a beautiful panorama of mountains and the lake that are very close by our road.
Next day, after visiting The Fortified Church in Prejmer we continue towards Baraolt passing by Vilcele with natural sparkling water springs & Feldioara Citadel.
In the morning, we pass the Olt gorge to Racos and stop at Unesco Heritage - village of Viscri - an old Saxon village where we find out about the history of Saxons in Transylvania.
Starting from Viscri, final stop will be at Simbata Monastery passing thru Fagaras. We are very close to Fagaras Mountain also called Transylvanian Alps, where the highest peak in Romania is. Return to Brasov passing thru Poiana Marului, a beautiful mountain village spreaded over hills.
Visit to Dracula's Castle and guided tour of the old town of Brasov; optional visit to The Black Church, The First Romanian School and The Weavers Tower.

8th day - Departure Day: Transfer to Bucharest Airport at Otopeni. Optional stop at Peles Palace - The Royal Summer Residence; a beautiful palace in Sinaia.
