Muntenia eastwards from Bucharest

Muntenia eastwards from Bucharest is little known. Yet, it is a paradise for the lover of nature. Oil and natural gas come by themselves to the surface, without being exploited, as in ancient times. At times, one cannot believe his eyes: isolated sources of gas burn all the time, spears and sausages can be grilled at no cost. The erosion of the salt hoes has given them free lane. Noble wines thrive on the sunny hillsides, which are pressed expertedly, while most of the hills are covered by many derricks. Very old churches carved in stone and streams that carry at times big pieces of amber: one feels part of the Arabian Nights.

Arrival on the Otopeni airport and transfer to our pension. Welcome grill with beer in the garden.

2nd day: Monteoru

Visit to the nicely, in a hollow laid spa. Bathing possible. Short walk in the neighborhood to the glass factory and to the petrol mine. Manor house of the Monteoru family and its mausoleum.

3rd day: Fantastic phenomena

Drive to the moonlike scenery of the Mud Volcanoes, sources of gas, which bring water and petrol from the depth and put it in form of volcanoes. Another source of gas burns - the Living Fire. Nearby, the impressive salt hoe at Meledic. In the evening, we will have a sample of the wines of Pietroasele near Monteoru.

4th day: Church carved in stone and project

Drive to the village Colţi, where there is a deserted pit and the Amber Museum. The original village has an old, in stone carved church. Walk to the other stone carvings in the region Pănătău. A Swiss project to support abandoned children, and the famous Ţuica (plum brandy).

5th day: County capital Buzău and Neighborhood

Favorite destination Ciolanu: monastery and sculpture camp with unexpected mountainous scenery. Through Buzău and Râmnicu Sărat to Balta Alba, a protected forest and lake with interesting birds, or to the renowned Renaissance wine cellars in Panciu.

6th day: Sinaia - pearl of the Carpathians

Drive to Sinaia, visit to the monastery and to one of the fairy-tale castles in the Peleş valley. Easy walk to the Franz Josef stones. In the evening, wine probe at Ploieşti in marvelous scenery.
