The Best of Europe: Travel in Romania

Those of you who have just started planning your summer vacations and are considering something special for this year, we bring you the crème de la crème of Europe travel: tours in Romania.

Looking forward to an amazing sightseeing experience? Tours in Romania have everything you ever dreamed of experiencing: gorgeous inter-war and neo-classical architecture, a delta natural reservation, national parks, a rich culture and, of course, for those of you who are planning guided walking holidays, plenty of steep canyons and hiking trails in the mountains. You will be surprised to see how the old blends in with the new in complete harmony generating diversity with a breath of fresh New Age air.

Take for example a tour in Transilvania, one of the most culturally rich regions in Romania. If guided walking holidays is what you choose, then you will need at least two weeks to cover the main cities (Brasov, Cluj-Napoca, Sibiu, Sighisoara, Bran and so on) and the attractions along the way. Staying in the city might get tiresome at some point, and when that happens you can always explore the Transylvanian mountains. The southern wall of the Transylvanian mountains is known for being one of the wildest and highest mountain range in the region, frequently being resembled with the High Tatra.

If you decide to start your journey from the capital city, Bucharest, then you can easily travel to Sinaia, a fabulous ski resort that is also known as the "Pearl of the Carpathians". While you are in the region, it's a must that you visit the neo-Renaissance Peles Castle, ascend to the Bucegi plateau by cable car, and later on hike your way to the Bran Castle. Also, if you really enjoy hiking then we warmly recommend that you go for a hiking trail in Piatra Craiului National Park.

Bucovina and Moldova is another region worth visiting, being famous not only for its exceptionally fine wine and its delicious traditional cuisine, but for the number of beautifully painted monasteries. If you ever seen a picture of a Romanian monastery with impressive frescoes, it most probably was taken in this region and it probably was of one of the must-see monasteries: Voronet, Sucevita and Humor.

The region of Maramures in the North is famous for its wooden architecture and rural lifestyle. If you opt for a tour in Maramures you will find wooden monasteries and carved wooden gates at every step. Additionally, for a totally unique experience we recommend to take a ride through the big forests on the newly refurbished steam powered train or to visit the Jolly Cemetary.

What type of travel experience are you looking for? Tell us and we will recommend a region which you should definitely visit during your holidays in Romania!
